This module will provide delegates with the knowledge and tools that support with displaying/promoting impactful skills and behaviours in the workplace.

The 2.5-hour course is an introduction to developing soft skills for those who have line management responsibilities. The key focus is equipping delegates when working with others.

Each candidate will be provided with a handbook containing the slides and any workshop activities.

Outcomes

The overall objective of this course is to provide delegates with a series of practical steps and associated tools that help to identify and develop impactful skills and behaviours for the workplace.

At the end of this module candidates will understand and be able to apply:

  • The importance of setting the standard in the workplace
  • The key principles of emotional intelligence and managing relationships
  • Effective tools for boosting morale
  • Coaching techniques to develop others and their practice

Hours for Module

3 hr session with a 30-minute break

How will the module be taught?

Workshops will be delivered via MS Teams webinar. The Teams webinars will be live workshops delivered by a tutor to a small group of attendees – these are not pre-recorded sessions.

Course Leader and experience

Course Leader – Danny Alfaraj, Head of Department at City of Bristol College

Experience:

Danny has 20 years of working in the FE sector in a variety of different settings.

He has successfully managed different programmes of study and teams with the ability to improve success and performance. A key strength is coaching staff so they are better equipped in dealing with situations.

Course Trainer – Liz Ellis-Hutchins, Lecturer and Learning & Development Coach

Experience:

Liz has extensive experience of working in FE and across a variety of teams.

Her role as Learning & Development Coach has been fundamental in improving the standard for existing staff across multiple departments at the College. She also has a key part to play when inducting new colleagues and ensuring expectations are realised.
